Communication is the primary factor in transmitting messages and ideas from one individual to another. Additionally, communication plays a role in reducing misinterpretations in information comprehension. Unfortunately, not everyone can communicate verbally and comprehend language; deaf children, for example, have difficulty conveying information. They typically communicate with others through sign language.

The Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (31/09/2022), conducted sign language training for all teaching staff at the Faculty of Psychology as a follow-up to the initial training held on August 29, 2022. The training was held over four days, from August 29 – September 1, 2022. Located at the GKB 4 building, 6th floor, Room 609.

The training began with a video screening of the trainees attempting to make sign language out of several sentences, and then it was followed by a hand-stretching exercise. The training then reviewed the information covered from the day before, including dates, colors, numbers, and others. In the third activity, trainees were asked to understand sign language about family members, disabilities, and psychological disorders. Furthermore, the origin of the term "audism" was demonstrated. By not forcing deaf children to communicate verbally, trainees were urged to reduce and abolish audism or discrimination against them.

During the training session, sign language materials were presented using the repetition technique, allowing trainees to recall some of the previously learned words easily. Furthermore, games such as guessing gesture games were interspersed throughout the training to help trainees remember and understand sign language in the future.
